It is estimated that 20 million Americans have a tattoo. About half of those report that now they would like their tattoo to disappear, but without a disfiguring scar. The VersaPulse® has made the elimination of tattoos much easier and less painful and all types of tattoos can be significantly faded or completely removed.

Tattoos are created by embedding ink in cells in the dermis which is the layer of skin just below the top layer of skin. Previously you would need dermabrasion or cryosurgery to remove unwanted tattoos. This method usually left a scar or a visible white, depigmented area.

This procedure is performed in the office without the need for general anesthesia, however, topical anesthesia is available. The VersaPulse® laser has a special chilled tip which cools the skin during treatment. The removal of a small tattoo of one color may take one or two 30 minute laser treatments; multicolored tattoos may take several sessions depending on their size and type of ink. Treatments are spaced 4-8 weeks apart. The treatment feels like many small snaps with a rubber band.
